Though she continued modern violin studies, she
steadily moved towards the decisive moment when she would take up the
baroque violin.
Odile Edouard learned fundamental baroque violin
technique from Chiara Banchini, and also studied with John Holloway,
Sigiswald Kuijken and Enrico Gatti. The opportunity to become a teacher
herself (at the Centre de Musique Ancienne in Geneva and the
Conservatoire National Supérieur in Lyon) presented itself early on,
and has afforded her many occasions to delve into rewarding work with
students as they discover the early repertoire and perfect early
techniques.
Odile Edouard has played with Les Arts Florissants, Il Seminario
Musicale, Les Musiciens du Louvre and the Aurora Ensemble; she is now a
member of the Ensemble 415 and also frequently appears as a soloist.
She has done extensive work on the 17th century repertoire with Freddy
Eichelberger and Alain Gervreau in their ensemble Sine Titulo and, with
Les Witches, explores improvisation and the world of the theatre. She
has played in numerous European festivals, and recorded for the
Harmonia Mundi, Arcana, L’Empreinte Digital, Hortus, Sinfonia and K617
labels.
She is currently the baroque violin teacher at the Lyon Conservatoire National Supérieur.
